A Fremont County Sheriff's K-9 helped authorities catch a burglary suspect early Thursday morning in Mills County, Iowa.
At around 3:16 am, Fremont Count's K-9 unit was called to assist Mills County Sheriff's office near Silver City to find a suspect that had fled from a burglary scene.
According to deputies, the K-9 unit was deployed when they arrived to the scene.
Officials say that the K-9 tracked for about a mile through timber, fields, and creek beds before locating 37-year old Jeremy Erickson of Malvern, IA.
Erickson was given commands to surrender by deputies but refused.
Erickson then started to flee when was tackled and apprehended by the K-9 a short distance later.
Officials say Erickson surrendered without further incident.
Authorities say that Erickson suffered minor injuries was checked by medical staff on scene.
Erickson is now being held in Mills County on several charges.
The Mills County Sheriff's Office is investigating this case.
