Democratic candidates in the 2nd congressional district race in Nebraska paid some voters a visit over the weekend.

Former Congressman Brad Ashford and Kara Eastman went door-to-door around the Metro Sunday, with Ashford hitting Papillion and Eastman spending time in North Omaha. They handed out flyers and took time to talk to voters.

Ashford said people have been very engaged in this election and Eastman added this is how races are won now, hearing what's important to voters directly from there.

Ashford and Eastman will have their next debate on April 24 on 3 News Now, it will be moderated by the Omaha World-Herald's Mike'l Severe and 3 News Now anchor Craig Nigrelli. The primary vote is May 15.

The winner of the primary will challenge Republican Don Bacon, who currently holds the seat.
