A La Vista man is in an Iowa jail facing kidnapping charges.
Fremont Police say they received a 911 call early Tuesday morning from a female resident who was concerned about a friend's well-being after they posted on social media that she had been kidnapped and was being held against her will in an unknown location.
Information obtained by Fremont Police narrowed the victims location to a home in Renwick, Iowa. Deputies from the Humboldt County and Wright County, Iowa Sheriff's Departments went to the home, and the victim was able to escape when deputies arrived.
Deputies arrested 36 year old Valentin Velez for 3rd Degree Kidnapping, which is a Class C Felony which carries a possible sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
