OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska Attorney General (AG) Doug Peterson has filed a lawsuit against Bellevue University for allegations of misleading registered nursing students who were furthering their education.

The complaint, filed by Peterson's office, alleges that the university "made false, deceptive, and/or misleading statements to prospective and current students regarding the accreditation status of its RN to BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program and the value of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an unaccredited nursing program." It says that although a bachelor's degree program isn't required to be accredited, an unaccredited BSN is "significantly less valuable than a BSN from a college or university with an accredited nursing program."

Between 2012 and March 2017, approximately 179 students were said to have participated in the program.
