The family of a woman who died of an asthma attack in May 2017 while waiting for rescuers to find her location has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Douglas County and the City of Omaha.

The lawsuit says that emergency personnel were negligent in failing to locate Cristine Herek in time to save her life.

When Herek called 9-1-1, she gave them her work address, not her home address. The firefighters eventually found her about an hour after the initial call, but she had died at home, about a block away from an Omaha Fire station.
