The Nebraska Department of Corrections says the Lincoln Correctional Center is operating normally after a fire in a cell Monday night.

The fire was quickly contained and one staff member and two inmates were treated and released for possible smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation. One unit at the facility remains in modified operations as a result of inmate assaults on staff on August 24th.

The Tecumseh State Correctional Institution will remain in modified operations Wednesday following a partial lockdown on Friday. Prison administrators took that step after receiving information that inmates may have been planning an attack on staff. As a result, visitation has been cancelled for Wednesday.

Administrators will determine Wednesday whether or not to keep the facility under modified operations.
