Community support continues to grow for a family after an inmate allegedly shot and killed a Pottawatamie County deputy Monday.
At Lewis Central Middle School, students created a banner for Dep. Mark Burbridge's son, who's an eight grade student there. This morning, friends of the eight grader took the initiative to draw a banner bearing a badge with Burbridge's name on it. Students wrote words of encouragement and well wishes to show the slain deputy's family know how much they're cared for, according to school officials.
The school is providing resources and services for students who need grief counseling, says Principal Jim Dermody
