Lincoln Police Department investigate early Saturday homicide

Lincoln Police say the victim of the homicide is 31-year-old Michael Whitemagpie of Lincoln.

Forensic and digital evidence has been collected and will be analyzed by authorities.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) are investigating a homicide that took place early Saturday morning.

According to LPD, a 31-year-old died from a shooting in a Lincoln alley, bordering the roadways of N 32nd St, N 33rd St, S St and T St.

Authorities responded to the scene at 4:23 a.m. where officers found the man in the alley with gunshot wounds. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.

LPD says they're still investigating and "working to understand the events that preceded the homicide to determine if this act was the result of targeted violence."

Officials will identify the male once next-of-kin is notified.
