OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Douglas County Health Director Dr. Adi Pour said on Thursday that there have been 75 clusters of coronavirus in Douglas County the last 14 days.

Pour said the largest clusters are long-term care facilities and Creighton University.

Pour said people need to start planning for the fall to make sure they can have safe groups together inside.

Pour also said 69 patients are COVID positive in area hospitals and that it's a low number. She said 14 patients are on ventilators, another low number.

The coronavirus death rate in Douglas County is currently 1.2 percent.

Porur said 23 percent of Douglas County residents have been tested for the coronavirus. Pour says the county is averaging 104 new COVID-19 cases everyday.

Pour urges people to wear a mask and practice social distancing over the Labor Day weekend.

Mayor Jean Stothert said she hopes to have all of the community centers in Douglas County open by mid-October.
