OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — On Saturday, a Lincoln Police Department (LDP) officer and Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) troopers were involved in a shooting that left two people dead. The City of Lincoln has identified the officer who was involved in the incident.

The city said LPD Officer Jesse Hilger responded to an assist call from NSP where two armed robbery suspects, 30-year-old Hailey R. Stainbrook of Casper, Wyoming and 26-year-old Christian W. Alexander of Evansville, Wyoming, were being pursued.

After the suspects' vehicle was stopped, Hilger discharged his firearm and one of the two suspects was dead. Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said 26-year-old Christian Alexander died Tuesday at a Lincoln hospital.

As is the case with any officer-involved shooting in Nebraska, Hilger has been placed on administrative leave, during which an investigation will be carried out.
