LSU baseball fans take over Omaha

Posted

LSU's big win Saturday over Oregon State put the Tigers in the final series against Florida and sent a surge of their fans rushing to Omaha.

A sellout crowd of more than 25,000 packed TD Ameritrade Park for Monday night's game, most of them wearing purple and gold.

"It's pretty noticeable. You look around the stands and the majority of what you see is purple. They're loud too," said Jessica Anderson.

"It seems like Baton Rouge here - everywhere we go, we see LSU," said one fan, who drove up Saturday with her friends after LSU made it to the final.

"We're here to bring Baton Rouge up North, where it belongs," added Joe Simmons, also known as the "bead guy." He throws mardi gra beads at the crowd after each LSU run.

"This is my 11th or 12th College World Series, but this is the first time I brought my grandson," Simmons added.

The Tigers lost to the Gators 4-3 in Game 1.
