A west Omaha day-care owner caught on camera hitting and shaking a 4-year-old girl in April pled no contest to the charges in court Tuesday morning.

Lynn Rowe, former owner of Lynn’s Learning Center near 112th Street and West Center Road, was arrested shortly after a video on the incident surfaced.

She was charged with one count of felony child abuse in April and was forced to surrender her day-care license after the state of Nebraska issued an emergency order to shut down her business.

A video, taken by another daycare worker on March 28, showed Rowe appearing to hit, punch and shake a child. The video was given to the child's parents and a child protective services report was filed.

Rowe initially pleaded not guilty. Her change of plea to no contest is treated as a guilty plea by the judge.

Rowe faces a maximum of three years in prison. Her sentencing has been scheduled for Jan. 23.
