A Bellevue man who pleaded guilty to felony child abuse in the death of his infant daughter was sentenced to 18 years in prison in Sarpy County court.
Camron Ludi told investigators his 5-month-old daughter Cassidy Kennedy fell off a bed while he was outside smoking a cigarette in July 2016.
According to a pathology report and autopsy, Cassidy died from blunt force trauma. Doctors testified the injury was too extreme for a fall off a bed.
As part of an August plea deal, Ludi changed his plea to guilty for felony child abuse charges. During Monday's sentencing, Ludi told the judge he wanted to apologize and he wanted to take responsibility for leaving Cassidy alone on the bed.
Ludi was sentenced to 18 years in prison, with credit for time already served.
