A Council Bluffs man is recovering after being assaulted by three men who had burglarized a residence at the 3100 block of Avenue H.
Police say the incident happened around 2:39 a.m. when the victim chased after and confronted the burglars who had stolen property from his home.
Officers arrived to find the man being assaulted by one of the thieves. They fled from law enforcement on foot and haven't been located.
The suspects are described as wearing ski masks, dark hooded sweatshirts and dark coats.
The victim is being treated at a local hospital. His identity is not being released by law enforcement.
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department is assisting with the investigation.
