OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — One person was injured after allegedly stealing a vehicle and fleeing from the owner.

On Wednesday around 4:30 a.m., police say a man woke up to his truck's alarm going off as the vehicle was being stolen from his home on N. 47th St.

The man told police he confronted a 20-year-old man with brown hair and a brown mustache in his 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup. Police say the suspect and vehicle fled northbound on 47th Ave.

Shortly later, the Omaha Police's west precinct patrol was dispatched to a personal injury crash at 108th and W. Maple. Police say the investigation revealed that the Chevy pickup was westbound when it drifted out of its lane and struck a traffic signal on the northwest corner of the intersection.

The Chevy went down the grass embankment, struck a wooden power pole and rolled, ejecting the lone occupant. The driver was transported to CHI Bergan with serious injuries.

The driver of the Chevy was identified as Cody Matejka, 26, of Omaha. Matejka is being treated for a chest injuries and was admitted to ICU.

Police say several charges are pending.
