A violent week comes to an end in Omaha with yet another shooting death marking six murders in a nine day period.
Police confirm 34-year-old Markus Walker is dead following a shooting near 22nd and Fowler Avenue Sunday afternoon.
Omaha Police Department received a ShotSpotter Alert of gunshots fired in the area around 12:30 p.m.
Officers initially responded to 24th and Fowler Avenue, but were directed to 22nd and Fowler by witnesses. There, they found the gunshot victim.
Walker was rushed to Creighton University Medical Center in critical condition with life threatening injuries. He later died at the hospital.
The person responsible for his death is still on the loose. The Omaha Police Department is looking for any information leading to an arrest.
Digging into the background of Omaha's latest murder victim, KMTV uncovered Walker has had prior run-ins with the law.
in 2011, Walker was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in north Omaha. 36-year old Jarrod Maxwell was gunned down while sitting in his car outside the Family Dollar Store on North 30th.
Witnesses then saw the shooter speed off, ultimately ending in a crash.
Police arrested Walker along with another person in connection to the murder and crash.
