The man stabbed in the chest near 24th and Sprague died Sunday afternoon, according to Omaha police.
OPD says Terry E. Deperkins, 54, died at Nebraska Medical Center from his stab wound.
Police are investigating the case as a homicide.
Original Story: A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in the chest Sunday afternoon near 24th and Sprague streets.
Officers responded to a cutting call around 2:25 p.m.; the caller said a woman had stabbed a man in the chest.
Police found the victim unconscious in the vacant lot behind the buildings at the 4000 block of 24th Street.
The man was taken to Nebraska Medical Center in extremely critical condition.
Police are searching for a suspect last seen walking westbound from the area and describe the suspect as an African American woman dressed in pink.
