A spike in demand is driving Methodist Hospital to double the size of its emergency department.
Methodist says the project will expand the number of rooms from 12 to 24 and the project will cost around $25 million.
Officials say the move is needed after the number of ER visits rose 20 percent in the past five years and will continue to do so in the next decade. The expansion will keep the space functional for the next 25 years.
According to our partners at the Omaha World-Herald, the foundation has raised $12.6 million for the project, including some from donors.
