Major development news in Council bluffs.
The Iowa West Foundation announced two major retailers are coming to the Mid-America Center area, pending city council approval.
The foundation said it’s all about economic impact.
With roughly $30-million, the revitalization group says in short - those tenants are going to make the area pop.
The first is Courtyard by Marriott and will feature a restaurant and in-room service.
The second tenant is FieldHouseUSA, which is a year-round event and sports facility.
FieldHouseUSA is based out of Frisco, Texas and generated $110 million in that area along.
The complex features eight basketball courts, 12 volleyball courts and of the roughly, 100-thousand square feet, 20-thousand square feet is designated for sports like martial arts and cheerleading.
"Fieldhouse USA will be developing the recruitment part of this in terms of tournament play,” said Iowa West Foundation President and CEO Pete Tulipana. “We will also be working locally and regionally to provide space for skill development for a variety of different teams as well as recreational play.”
The Iowa West Foundation is using existing space and not tearing anything down.
The hotel will have a walkway that connects to the MAC and construction starts spring of 2016.
