OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Millard Public Schools Board of Education unanimously voted Monday to place a $125 million bond on the May election ballot.
According to Millard Public Schools, the bond would be used to update and maintain facilities and infrastructure in the district, which includes all 35 schools and three support buildings.
The work would include safety and security improvements, renovations, capital equipment replacements, energy efficiency projects, maintenance projects and furniture replacement.
The bond would add about one cent to the current levy, equaling approximately $20 additional dollars per year on a $200,000 home.
Millard Public Schools maintains 3.6 million square feet of indoor space all together. The average age of buildings in the district is 38.
The district provides schooling for more than 24,000 students.
Roughly 3,000 teachers and staff work for Millard Public Schools.
