Omaha Police arrested Millard South Assistant Principal, 45-year-old Matthew Fedde. He's booked in the Douglas County jail on a first degree sexual assault charge and child abuse.
According to a police report, a parent of a 15-year-old girl located a journal in which the girl documented a sexual relationship with her assistant principal. When her parents asked her about it, she apparently confirmed that she had a relationship with Fedde and the last incident occurred on December 12th. The girl's father then contacted police.
The police report states officers found communication between the 15-year-old girl and Fedde on the girl's cell phone. They also examined surveillance video from the school.
Millard Public Schools released this statement to the media:
Student safety is our top priority, and we take these allegations very seriously. The allegations were brought to our attention through the safe schools hotline, and we contacted authorities. Mr. Fedde was taken into custody at our administrative office this afternoon after meeting with our Human Resources department. He is on administrative leave with the district. Millard South’s principal has reached out to the school staff and community.
They sent this letter to parents:
Dear Millard South Families,
I am sorry to be reaching out to you today regarding a developing situation we take very seriously. We were approached yesterday with a concern about one of our students. As we always do with any allegations, we immediately contacted authorities.
It is with difficulty that I share that one of our administrators, assistant principal Matt Fedde, has been arrested in an ongoing investigation of inappropriate contact with a student. He is on administrative leave as the police continue their work.
We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement with this developing situation. Student safety and well –being is always our top priority.
Again, I am sorry to reach out to you over winter break, but I wanted you to hear this information from me.
