Omaha students got an eye-opening dose of reality during a demonstration designed to illustrate the dangers of driving drunk.
A mock DUI crash scene — a first at an Omaha public school — was staged at Burke High School on Wednesday morning in front of 1,100 students — most of them juniors and seniors — ahead of Homecoming celebrations.
The exhibition seemed to resonate.
"I was just surprised that this type of stuff happens a lot,” said Megan Mackey, who is a junior at Burke High School. “You hear stories, but you never get to see it.”
