Mollie Tibbetts Memorial Run held in Iowa

Posted

Hundreds of people laced their sneakers over the weekend to pay tribute to an Iowa college student who was killed over the summer.

The group took part in a five-mile run in honor of Mollie Tibbetts in her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa.

Members of the Johnson County Crisis Center, where Mollie worked as an advocate, say its no surprise so many people showed up in support of her.

"It took so many people to put this together and so many volunteers stepped forward. Anyone that I asked for help or for a donation or for volunteering, there wasn't anyone that told me no," event organizer Brandie Flathers said.

Many of the runners also gave donations which will directly benefit the Children's Hospital at the University of Iowa.
