A surprise inspection of commercial truck drivers in Omaha and Lincoln on Thursday resulted in the discovery of 913 violations.

Nebraska State Patrol troopers conducted 266 surprise inspections at various sites in Douglas and Sarpy counties as well as in Lincoln including 66th and Harrison Streets and at 120th Street and Highway 370. They inspected a total of 226 vehicles and took 106 of them off the road, according to a Thursday NSP press release.

Twenty-eight drivers were parked for various violations, including not having valid licenses or not having a log book. Troopers also caught a carrier operating under a federal out-of-service order and towed that vehicle.

NSP said they issued more than $19,000 in citations, and at least three people were arrested on outstanding warrants.

The surprise inspections were carried out over three days this week by the Metropolitan Aggressive and Prevention Selective (MAPS) Team, according to the release. More inspections are expected in coming months in cities and towns across Nebraska, the release states.
