OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A 26-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash early Saturday.

Around 2:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of S 38th St and Vinton St.

Investigation showed a 2011 Harley Davidson was traveling eastbound on Vinton St when the driver failed to take a slight left curve in the road and left the roadway.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Joseph Rocha, was thrown from the motorcycle when it struck a staircase and a wooden post, according to Omaha Police.

Rocha was pronounced dead at the scene by medics and he was wearing a non-DOT approved helmet.

Alcohol is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
