Motorcyclist injured in accident at 156th and Q streets

A motorcyclist was taken to Nebraska Medicine with injuries tonight after a 9:15 p.m. collision with an SUV at the intersection of 156th and Q streets.

Omaha Police officers on scene told 3 News Now that the motorcyclist driving a 2006 Suzuki GSX-1000 was traveling westbound on Q Street at the time of the accident, and that witness said the motorcyclist may have been exceeding the posted speed limit of 45 mph.

An SUV traveling eastbound on Q Street was turning to head north onto 156th Street when the driver said the motorcycle ran into the vehicle, striking it on the passenger side, according to police reports.

According to witnesses the Hyundai had a green turn arrow and right of way at time of the crash, the press release states. 

The driver and two minor passengers complained of various aches and pains but refused medical treatment, according to an OPD press release.

The motorcyclist, Roland B. Ladenson, 18, was cited for careless driving, no motorcycle endorsement, driving while under suspension, no registration and no insurance. He was transported to Nebraska Medicine ER by OFD Medics with serious, non-life threatening injuries to his legs.
