SARPY COUNTY, Neb. (KMTV) -- — Through much discussion on whether or not they should, a metro area outlet mall opened their doors.
Nebraska Crossing Outlets re-opened to the public Friday morning.
The owner says only 10 stores are open so far, but most of them are the first in their entire retail chain to do so.
They’ve implemented a number of safety features and best practices. They’re limiting entry into the mall, security has masks and takes your temperature, there’s hand sanitizing stations, and markers on the ground to keep shoppers at an appropriate distance.
With all the precautions some people say it’s still not worth the risk.
“Absolutely not. That’s just too many, everybody’s opening too soon, too quickly, too soon. To do a soft open is one thing, but to go through a mall no way,” said Ruth Bequette who was outside the mall.
They say stores will continue to re-open throughout may and it’s 100% up to the company to decide if they want to do that or not.
