Former President Bill Clinton stumped for his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Friday afternoon at The Waiting Room in Benson. Clinton praised his wife’s work in Washington.
“It’s not just because she’s the most experience, though she is,” Clinton said. “It’s not just because we need to have the first woman president,” he said to applause.
Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders’ campaign counted on a hometown girl, Sanders’ press secretary Symone Sanders, who appeared on his behalf at Big Mama’s Kitchen.
“It’s not too late to learn how to caucus. And, it’s not too late to get out,” Sanders said. “So, if you were not thinking about caucusing until today, right now, you can still go out tomorrow and caucus.”
State democrats were preparing for record crowds at caucus sites. They were also promising a smooth vote, instead of the 2008 caucuses, where voters arrived to long lines and frustration.
Douglas County will have over a dozen locations to choose from and the caucus starts at 10 a.m., with check-in starting at 8 a.m.
Sarpy County will have three locations to choose from and the caucus starts at 2 p.m., with check-in starting at 1 p.m.
