OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — In a new study by WalletHub, Nebraska has the best early education system in America.

To aid in the study, WalletHub compared the 50 states and Washington D.C. across 12 metrics, including share of school districts that offer a state pre-K program, number of pre-K quality benchmarks met and total reported spending per child enrolled in pre-K.

Nebraska ranked fourth overall in education access, behind Illinois, Vermont, and Washington D.C., second in education quality, behind Arkansas, but just 23rd in "resources and economic support." Indiana ranks last in early education, and Iowa ranks 18th.
