Nebraska Medicine issues coronavirus update

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska Medicine issued updates Saturday on those being monitored at UNMC/Nebraska Medicine for coronavirus.

Thirteen people are being monitored for coronavirus currently, with 11 testing positive and two testing negative. All of the individuals were passengers on the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

Ten individuals are being monitored in the National Quarantine Unit while three are being cared for in the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit.

According to Nebraska Medicine, the three people in the biocontainment unit are in stable condition.

Nebraska Medicine says if the two people who tested negative continue to show no symptoms, they could leave quarantine on March 2nd.

Those who tested positive must have two negative tests 24 hours apart before they can be cleared to leave quarantine; however, it's not clear yet when testing will begin on them.

There are now 35 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the U.S.
