After teasing a “major development” for their transplant program, leaders at Nebraska Medicine revealed they will begin offering lung transplants.
The announcement means doctors will no longer have to refer patients to facilities outside of the state.
"Within the past year, Nebraska Medicine has referred six people outside the state of Nebraska for a lung transplant," Nebraska Medicine said in a post on Twitter during the press conference.
They hope to provide 10 transplants in the first year.
