WASHINGTON, D.C. (KMTV) - National Guard soldiers and airmen from Nebraska were sworn into service as Special Police on Sunday in Washington D.C.
The Nebraska National Guard sent about 300 members to help with President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday.
The Nebraska soldiers and airmen will assist in protecting property and providing a safe environment for citizens to exercise their right to peacefully assemble and protest.
The personnel are scheduled to be on duty through the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20.
National Guard airmen and soldiers from most states have traveled to Washington D.C. to help federal and district authorities with the inauguration.
