LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) says 77-year-old Serviano Ruiz died Wednesday morning at the Nebraska State Penitentiary.
Ruiz was serving a two-year sentence out of Lancaster County for abuse of a vulnerable adult which started on July 3, 2019.
Cause of death has yet to be determined; however, Ruiz was being treated for a medical condition.
A grand jury will conduct an investigation into the death, as is the case anytime an inmate dies in NDCS custody.
