The first zip line tour in the state of Nebraska is now open.
About an hour away from Omaha, Soaring Hawk Zip Line sits at Camp Crossed Arrows in Nickerson and the guided, multi-course tour featuring five different stations is now open.
Located at a Girl Scout Camp, property director Michael Davis says the project has been in the works for years and he's happy it is finally open.
"We feel it covers a lot of aspects of our camp from the native prairie grass to the timber, with some beautiful views of our vista of the Elkhorn River," Davis said.
Course manager Rob Anderson said the course starts with the most gentle line and slowly increases speed and heights as it goes.
While flying through the trees, Anderson says thrill seekers will not be disappointed, the course reaches speeds of 30 MPH and the last zip is 70 feet in the air over a ravine.
The whole tour takes a little more than two hours and proceeds go back to the Girl Scouts.
