LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) - Sarpy County Election Commissioner Wayne Bena has been hired as the new deputy secretary of state for elections in Nebraska. 

Bena will report to Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale on Sept. 1 and will replace Neil Erickson, who spent 22 years working in the Secretary of State's office. 

Bena served as Sarpy County Election Commissioner beginning in 2010. He was appointed by former Governor Dave Heineman.
