"Not My President" rally on Friday in Downtown Omaha

Posted

Anti-Trump protesters marched Omaha streets again on Friday night. The group is against Donald Trump being elected the 45th President of the United States.

“It’s not just the fact that Hillary lost to a republican, it’s the fact that Trump just has spouted so many things I am against,” said Veteran Stacy Cornell.

She said she knows the decision has been made, but she felt the need to express her feelings about the next President.

“I had to come down here and show solidarity to some of these other young people, to show you there are older people too including veterans,” said Cornell.

The group walked the streets in Downtown Omaha, holding signs, chanting “Not My President,” hoping they would make a statement.

For Alberto, the election of Donald Trump has put fear into him and his family while he waits to become an American citizen.

“This time he hurt a lot of people and we are scared, people are really scared, I don’t know what to do, I talked to my lawyer she said be prepared just in case, and it is scary to not know,” he said.

Alberto said he want an apology from Trump.

“When this started I believed in Trump, I thought he could turn the economy around, it’s just he shouldn’t have insulted so many, and if he can just come out and apologize.”

Within the crowd of anti-Trump, there was one man holding a sign that said “You lost, accept it.”

“You see on the news all these people protesting against it, well when Obama was elected you didn’t see this,” said Murel Naumowicz.

He was the only Trump supporter to show throughout the night, “I am the only one out here, but it doesn’t bother me.”

There was no violence at the protest. Omaha Police were monitoring the situation to keep everyone safe.
