Obama Foundation partnering with Empowerment Network

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Obama Foundation will formally announce their partnership with the Empowerment Network today at the 12th annual Rebuilding the Village Conference held at the Hilton in downtown Omaha.

Cyrus Garrett, Deputy Director for the Obama Foundation/MBK Alliance is in town to participate as a keynote presenter during the luncheon at the conference.

Omaha was selected as one of 15 cities out of 250 after a national community challenge competition. The Empowerment Network and My Brother's Keeper of the Midlands will partner with organizations to increase the number of interns in the Step-Up Omaha program, connect more students with mentors, increase exposure to STEM and continue working together to reduce gun violence.

The conference goes from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Other national guests include national economist Dr. Julianne Malveaux, former Disney executive Simon T. Bailey and over 30 local leaders.
