This winter season, there have been yo-yos back and forth between mild weather to the occasionally snow fall.

Regardless of how many inches we get, Omaha officials want to get ready.

National Weather Service reports wintry weather will likely start late Friday going into Saturday.

The agency says you can expect snow-covered roadways.

3 News Now meteorologist Ryan McPike predicts 1 to 3 inches.

Officials are asking the public to be ready for reduced visibilities and light winds.

The heaviest snowfall will happen between 3 and 8 Saturday morning.

Snow fall expected to end sometime in the afternoon.

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert tweeted public works started pre-treating streets Thursday afternoon.

People in neighborhoods want to know when crews will come into their areas.

For Mayor Stothert, the magic number is at least two inches.

That's when private contractors and other city departments will take over side streets.
