Omaha Fire officials have extended the burn ban in the area until 7:00 am Wednesday due to a 'Red Flag Warning' still in effect.

"Above normal temperatures combined with strong winds and low relative humilities and abundant fuels will contribute to extreme fire behavior," officials said in a statement.

OFD officials added that all open burning is banned until the fire danger has decreased.

This includes permitted burns, outdoor fireplaces, and fire pits.

They added that care should be taken when extinguishing cigarettes.
