OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Over 48,000 donations were made to 961 nonprofits during the seventh annual Omaha Gives! yesterday. This year's 24-hour online giving day, presented by American National Bank, raised $6.7 million from 18,612 donors.
Since Omaha Gives! launched in 2013, more than $49 million has been raised for nonprofit organizations throughout Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie Counties.
This year, $112,000 in prizes were given out to participating nonprofits. Nonprofits could win random hourly drawings or participation prizes based on the number of unique donors who gave to their organizations.
In addition to winning prizes, 70 nonprofits increased their giving totals by utilizing dollar-for-dollar matching Challenge Funds secured from individual donors.
