OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — An Omaha man, who told investigators that child pornography was his "pill for pedophilia" was sentenced today.

53-year-old Mark Ringland was given 14 years in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for child pornography found on his personal devices.

The Department of Justice says, "He looked at the images so that he would not act out himself on children."

The Department of Justice also said Ringland provided a new reason for having the images.

"At his sentencing hearing he blamed Google for providing a forum for child pornography to exist. He claimed to be searching for the images so he could report to Congress they need to change laws with respect to child pornographic content."
