OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Omaha ended the year on a high note when it comes to a high-profile violent crime.
There were no murders over the weekend, meaning the city extended its more than 100 day streak without a homicide. Last week, Omaha Police tweeted that was the first time the city had reached that mark.
Last month, we reported the city's murder numbers were on pace to be the fewest per capita in the last 20 years. There were 21 homicides in 2018 compared to 30 in 2017, 29 in 2016 and 50 in 2015.
Overall, violent crime was down 10 percent compared to 2017.
