Omaha Police investigate felony assault, shooting early Saturday

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Omaha Police are investigating separate felony assault and shooting incidents that took place early Saturday.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 19th and Vinton around 1 a.m. for a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located 34-year-old Terry Sramek suffering from apparent gunshot injuries along with injuries sustained upon crashing his vehicle after being shot.

According to Omaha Police, Sramek told officers he was driving in the area and being followed by male suspects in an unknown vehicle that intentionally crashed into him while driving. Sramek's vehicle was shot at and the suspects fled.

Sramek was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Around 5 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of S 39th Ave and D St for an assault.

Officers contacted the victim, 27-year-old Eliazar Alcala, upon arrival. He was suffering from serious injuries, according to Omaha Police.

Alcala told authorities he was attacked by a suspect with a weapon like a metal pipe. He was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center with possibly life-threatening injuries.
