Omaha Police make arrest in connection to Friday night shooting

Omaha Police say 23-year-old Lamont Cameron was arrested in connection with a shooting that injured a 30-year-old woman Friday night.

Cameron was arrested without incident and booked into Douglas County Corrections for 2nd Degree Felony Assault, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Person.

Omaha Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 30-year-old woman Friday night.

At 9:28 p..m, police were dispatched to the 4300 block of N 41st St for a Shot Spotter activation, where officers found evidence of a shooting upon arrival.

A witness told police that the victim, identified as Canei Thomas, was taken by private vehicle to Immanuel Hospital. Officers later arrived at the hospital and contacted the victim.

The victim was transferred to Bergan Mercy where it was determined her injuries were non-life threatening, according to authorities.

The suspect is described as a black male with long dreadlocks or braids.
