OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Omaha Police are investigating a Friday crash near N 30th and Fort St along with a Saturday crash near N 84th and Blondo St.
Around 7 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to the intersection of N 30th and Fort St for a personal injury crash involving two vehicles.
Investigation revealed a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling westbound on Fort St, trying to turn south on N 30th when a northbound 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee ran a red light on Fort St.
The Jeep collided with the Chevrolet and the Chevrolet rolled onto its passenger side.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered serious injuries to his head and abdomen and the passenger of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Police identified Omar Antunes, 36, as the driver of the Jeep. He suffered a minor injury to his mouth and was booked for DUI serious bodily injury, reckless driving, open container, operators license revoked, possession of marijuana less than 1 oz., and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 6:25 p.m. Saturday, Omaha Police were dispatched to the intersection of N 84th St and Blondo St for a personal injury crash, also involving two vehicles.
Investigation revealed a 2006 Ford Focus was traveling eastbound on Blondo St.
The Ford was described as driving erratically and crossed into oncoming traffic lanes, where the vehicle collided with a westbound 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The driver and lone occupant of the Ford, 22-year-old Mekenya Cross, was taken to CHI Bergan Mercy with severe injuries which are considered life-threatening at this time.
Cross is facing charges as police say alcohol and a lack of seat belt use are being investigated as factors in the crash.
The Chevrolet driver suffered minor injuries.
