Omaha Police searching for robber who beat man

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who beat and stole items from a man lying on a north Omaha sidewalk on June 4.

The above video shows the suspect kicking the 63-year-old victim and stealing a cell phone and earbuds.

According to the police report, the victim stated he didn't remember what happened to him.

He told police he was walking near N 32nd and Taylor Ave then woke up on the ground covered in blood with his belongings gone.

Police received a call about an assault at the location at 1:28 p.m. that day, but when officers arrived, no one was there.

The victim was located on a front porch of a residence with a bloody head injury.

One officer went to the area of the assault and talked to witnesses who said the victim was walking down the street when a female ran up and hit the victim with a metal object. Witnesses added that a male then ran up and took his property, according to the police report.

The victim was taken to UNMC to be treated.

Anyone with information should contact the Omaha Police Robbery Unit at 402-444-4619. Tips leading to an arrest are eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
