An Omaha woman on Tuesday had her felony child abuse charges upgraded to felony child abuse resulting in death, according to a release from Omaha Police.
Ashley Newburn, 29, is accused of abusing her 4-month-old daughter Layton Justice after the infant was found unresponsive Thursday.
"Detectives with SVU conducted the initial interviews with the parents at the hospital, who had been present with the infant, both at the residence and the hospital," the release states.
The baby was brought to the hospital on Thursday with injuries police said were the result of abuse; the infant died in the hospital Saturday.
