Todd Sears, 49, will be the new president and publisher of the Omaha World-Herald.

Sears is a Crete native and UNL graduate who comes back to Nebraska after being the president and publisher of the State Journal-Register and Lincoln Courier in Illinois.

From 2014-2016, he served as the vice president of advertising and revenue development for the Richmond Times-Dispatch which is owned by the BH Media Group, the same parent company as the World-Herald.

“Throughout his career, Todd has helped generate the revenue needed to provide outstanding journalism in local communities,” BH Media Group's executive vice president Julie Bechtel said. “He works extremely hard and is focused on results. I know our team will enjoy working with Todd to meet our goals.”

“I’m so excited to join an amazing team that has deep roots in the Omaha community,” Sears said. “Together, we’ll build on The World-Herald’s incredible history and find new ways to inform, engage, inspire and connect with our customers.”
