OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — One man died Thursday afternoon after a police chase that started in Saunders County and went into West Omaha.

The driver of the pick-up being pursued by authorities shot himself after the chase ended near 180th and Harrison because of a flat tire. On Friday afternoon, he was identified as 26-year-old Blake Cedar. Cedar had an active felony warrant from earlier this month, according to authorities.

Deputies began chasing the truck in Wahoo at around 3 p.m. while investigating a case of theft and eventually the State Patrol got involved as the vehicle began driving against oncoming traffic as it entered Omaha.

"At the point of the traffic stop it appears there may have been gunshots fired at that deputy as he attempted to stop the vehicle, the pursuit ensued," Lt. Matt Sutter with the NSP said.

Police also took two women passengers in for questioning but neither were injured. The pursuit is under investigation by the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office.
