One dead and three injured in Saunders County crash

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Saunders County Sheriff's Office says one person is dead and another three were injured in a wreck just after 9:30 a.m.

They say a pickup truck on Highway 77, just north of Mead, appears to have lost control due to icy conditions and ended up in the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The front seat passenger of the truck was pronounced at the scene, the rear seat passenger was treated and released at the scene and the driver was transported to Saunders Medical in Wahoo with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha with life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff's Office says restraints were in use and alcohol is not suspected.

The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

They say the crash is still under investigation by the Saunders county Sheriff's Office.

Mead Fire and Rescue, Wahoo Fire and Rescue, Yutan Fire and Rescue, Wahoo Police Department, Yutan Police Department, two Nebraska Game and Parks officers and the Nebraska State Patrol all assisted.
